October 2024 - Lualemba Bungalow Resort - Monthly Newsletter

Hi guys and gals.

October there was pretty much good swell all month but into the second week the winds went funky and swung to the south. Known as the devil wind in Rote there weren’t many options for offshore waves that we are all use to on Rote island. There was still fun to be had but was challenging complimenting through the sections. We sailed Teaila to Do’o island to relax and enjoy some snorkelling. Rain has come a little earlier so the gardens were loving the shower burstsand Lualemba Bungalow Resort is looking better than ever if that is possible. Enjoy October newsletter.

The green green grass of Lulemba Bungalow Resort like no other on Rote island. The beauty within.

Te Aila anchored up with new rigging and sails.

Since erecting the new mast and rigging on Te Aila we bought new sails, a code zero on an endless furler, head sail, stay sail and a main with 3 reef points so we can safely go anywhere man on Te Aila. A lot has been achieved so far bringing her back beyond her original form and with a little more work to her she will be like a whole new vessel. Te Aila is a fun way to explore the outer islands with her 2 x 25 hp motors when needed and the relaxing sailing experience with plenty of shade from the tropical sun and ability can carry ice cold drinks for the journey. Exclusive to Lualemba Bungalow Resort guests it has been a highlight for many holidays.

The serenity of Do’o island

Ever dreamed of going to a tropical deserted island and been the only people there. Te Aila is the perfect way to discover such a place like Do’o island with it’s turquoise waters and deserted beaches, not to mention the snorkelling it certainly is an island paradise.

Waves during October were still exceptional despite a 10 day period of south winds to swing the conditions around.

Thanks to Danny from the local surf shop near the phone tower spending endless hours taking shots from the reef and sorting for guests to buy. Tland doing it’s thang and as usual I’ll let the photos do the talking.
