Walking around Loedik at low tide. such a beautiful place during the wet season. Dry season you walk around at a 45 degree angle.

Garden are in full swing at Lualemba Bungalows

Yes wet season is here well and truly with a ton of rain from Christmas through to New years. The low that produced the swells along Australias upper east coast beginning of 2022 (cyclone Steth ) originally formed above Rote. Unfortunately we received no swell just wind and rain. so we did a major hack of the gardens and weeded out the unwanted and replanted a heap of new plants to make more color and shady areas to chill after a surf. Here at Lualemba Bungalows we boast the best gardens on Rote island with amazing bright green grass road so you are not suffocated by dust when the trade winds blow. With the following rains its been an exceptional wet season so local farmers alike are pretty stoked at the moment.

The Yellow Surf Bus is out of the water

Yearly maintenance is in progress with the Lualemba surf transit boat to Tland and nearby breaks. Probably slap some resin and fibre glass around followed by a bit of paint and she’ll be new again. Before guests were forbidden to come to Rote I ripped out the inner guts and rebuilt to into a custom surf bus so the new surf friendly interior has not been seen by many people.

Good time of year for exploring the landscapes

Well surfs have been few and far between lately but when there have been waves they have been quite fun. Scored Boa a week or so ago with 3 foot sets but mainly 2 feet waves absolute perfection all to myself just lucked out when those coming in I was heading out and when I was getting out others were just heading out. When no waves there is nothing better than heading out and discovering and rediscovering the Rote landscape. Especially in the exposed areas to the wind in the dry season that are calm and a charm of beauty.

Te Aila sitting out the wet season

This is a typical day during the wet season in Rote with rain squalls, dark and gloomy clouds drenching the unwary. Must say living here I quite like it but not the best surf holiday weather. Te Aila is in the middle of some maintenance improvements and plan to be ready for the start of the tourist season.
